24 Mind Blowing Facebook Engagement Tips: Part I

Do you ever feel like, despite your best efforts, you are just not seeing as much engagement on your Facebook page as you would like? Would you love some Facebook engagement tips?

You are not alone. It is easy to fall into the rut of posting the same old things, day after day.

That is why I have compiled this list of creative ideas for how you can increase your engagement levels and get out your rut, once and for all!

24 Facebook Engagement Tips and Ideas to Improve Your Results

1. Reference controversial content.

Even if you are understandably hesitant to post controversial content on your website, you can generate increased engagement on your Facebook page by referencing other people’s controversial or ‘hot’ content from an ‘asking opinion' standpoint. You will be surprised at how many people come out the woodwork to share their views on a heated topic!

2. Ask for feedback.

Show your fans you care about their opinions by asking for feedback about your business or products. For instance, ‘What features would you like to see added to the next version of our product?’.

3. Use social games.

Don’t be afraid to just have some fun sometimes! This post on Social Media Examiner gives some great ideas of how to use games to engage with your Facebook fans. One idea is to fill a jar with something (jelly beans, coins, balls, etc.), post a picture on your timeline, and ask people to guess how many there are.

4. Share fan content.

Periodically sharing your fans’ blog posts or updates is a great way to show that you value what others are saying. Let your community know that you’re not a ‘one man/woman show’, and more often than not they’re happy to participate in this conversation.

5. Fill in the blank.

Another Facebook engagement tip is to ask your fans to ‘fill in the blank.’  This is a great way to invite participation and allow your fans to express some of their unique sense of creativity and humor.

6. Post photo quotes.

The next time you want to post a quote on your Facebook page, consider turning it into an image before sharing. We know that photos tend to receive up to 53% more likes than text-only posts (some estimates are even higher), so it will be well worth your time to turn that quote into an image!

7. Ask for likes versus comments.

Elicit engagement by asking your fans to express a view or opinion by either liking or commenting on a post. For instance, ‘Tap the like button if you agree’, or ‘Share your opinion in the comment area if you disagree’.

8. Remind your fans and followers that you appreciate them.

Without your fans, your Facebook page is worthless! Tell them you love and appreciate them. No hidden motives here: just remind your fans that they are what makes your business great.

9. Ask for advice.

Ask your fans to give feedback on a situation or problem that a customer or client has asked you about. People love to help others and will bend over backward to offer advice that they think may help.

10. Post at the optimal times.

Although afternoons and evenings are generally the best time to post, the optimal times may vary by business and industry. So it’s important that you track when your engagement levels are highest. You’d be surprised at what a difference this can make!

11. Use humor.

Although you have to be careful with this one, adding a little bit of humor to your updates can definitely increase your reach. Everyone loves to share a good joke, so don’t be afraid to post a joke, comic or share something funny that has happened to you.

12. Don’t forget about weekends!

Some businesses seem to forget that people are on Facebook on weekends. Just because you restrict your work to weekdays doesn’t mean your fans don’t want to hear from you on the weekends! You may even find them to be more engaged on weekends as they have more time and are more relaxed.

More Facebook Engagement Tips On the Way

Keeping your fans engaged through liking, sharing and commenting on your posts isn’t hard, but it does require a bit of creativity and a willingness to ‘change things up’. Don’t get stuck posting the same old things, again and again. That’s no fun for you or your fans!

Kellie, I suggest varying the way you say the same thing for example: ‘Tap the like button if you agree’, or ‘Share your opinion in the comment area if you disagree’.
