Have an online store, but just aren’t getting the sales you were hoping for?
Running an eCommerce business is all about consistency, effort, and sticking with it for the long haul.
BUT…
That doesn’t mean there aren’t things you can do to boost your sales and leads…fast!
In this post, I’m going to share 6 simple strategies you can implement today to help you boost your eCommerce sales and get results as quickly as possible.
1. Use Videos on Your Landing Pages.
I use videos on all my landing pages…like this one on my Business Builder’s Academy page!
According to Wyzowl’s 2021 State of Video Marketing report, 69% of consumers prefer to learn about a product by watching a short video (compared to 18% who prefer text).

There are some amazing, low-cost tools out there now that will let you create professional-looking videos…literally in minutes, and with zero design skills.
Some videos that will work beautifully on your product and sales pages are:
- Explainer videos
- Video tutorials
- Customer testimonial videos
- Demo videos
- Case Studies

2. Upsell and Cross-Sell Products.
One of the biggest challenges online store owners face is finding customers.
So once you’ve got someone on your site, ready to buy, make sure you’re making the most of this opportunity!
According to Groove HQ, you have a 5-20% probability of selling to a new customer…but a 60-70% chance of selling to an existing one.

This means showing customers related products (cross-sells) or more expensive products (upsells) during the checkout process.
Simply specify another product you’d like to promote, and customers can add it to their cart with the click of a button. Doesn’t get much easier than that!
3. Send Abandoned Cart Emails.

Did you know that the average cart abandonment rate across industries is 69.57%?
And that for mobile carts, this number jumps to a whopping 85.65%??
Did you know that the average cart abandonment rate across industries is 69.57%? And that for mobile carts, this number jumps to a whopping 85.65%??Click To TweetOne way to minimize these numbers is to send emails to customers who have left your site before completing their purchase.
If you’re with Shopify, sending these emails is easy using the Abandoned Cart Recovery Email app; And if you have a WordPress site, WooCommerce has a cart recovery app too.
Some ideas for your email: Offer reduced (or free) shipping, create urgency by revealing the number of products remaining, or simply send a brief reminder that their cart is waiting for them!
4. Choose a Credible Domain Name.
Choosing a newer extension like .STORE will give you way more eCommerce domain name options
Your domain name says a lot about your business.
It should clearly describe what you’re selling, and THAT you’re selling something. This will leave no room for confusion, and will go a long way towards establishing credibility…which will lead to increased leads and sales.
Some tips for choosing your domain name include:
- Make sure it’s descriptive
- Keep it short and memorable
- Avoid using hyphens, number, misspelled words, (e.g., www.newbagz.com, www.new-bagz-4-u.com)
- Make sure your domain name isn’t already trademarked
One way to ensure you get the best domain name possible is to go with a newer domain extension that’s specifically geared towards online stores.
For instance, the .STORE extension clearly conveys that you’re an eCommerce site; and because it’s relatively new, there are tons of domain names to choose from.
This means you can use your actual brand name, product name, or product category without having to resort to using super-long names, hyphens or misspellings!

5. Simplify the Checkout Process.
Example of a simple checkout page via Stripe
When customers feel confused or overwhelmed, or feel like an eCommerce site is asking for too much personal information, they’re less likely to complete their purchase.
In fact, according to a 2021 study by the Baymard Institute, 18% of consumers stated they abandon a cart when the checkout process is too long or complicated.

This likely includes the customer’s full name, shipping info, payment info and email address…and not much else!
6. Offer Live Chat on Your Site.
Looking for a way to offer better customer service, AND make more sales?
According to one infographic, customers are 51% more likely to make a purchase on a site that has live chat; and 29% are more likely to buy just by SEEING the option to live chat…even if they don’t use it.

If you have a WordPress site, you can download a free live chat plugin like Tidio, with the option to upgrade for just $18/month.
Or if you don’t use WordPress, try an app like Jivochat …which offers a 100% free option!
